Wolf in Sheep's Clothing
© 2009 Robert A Geyer
A story came on the news today
That a pastor turned the homeless away
Five families threatened to leave the church
I can't understand what that would hurt
When they could have helped, they turned their back
And the good lord will always remember that
The pastor chose the money over God’s will
The devil came out and he's showing still
Some churches think they can choose who is allowed
But the Lord never turned away anyone from his house
I didn't know financial status was required to pray
And I didn't know that it mattered if they were gay
Does the preacher know his true colors are showing
Like a wolf in sheep's clothing
A child was born a couple years ago
The stories second hand from a friend I know
The mother was a drinker and high on dope
He tried to see his son but the court said no
The judge didn't want to hear what he had to say
And the only reason was he didn't live in that state
The judge said paying support was his only right
And if he would like he could call his son sometimes
I wonder if the judge understands just what he's done
He did all he could to keep a father from his son
When his son is older he will want to know about his dad
Why the state denied him a relationship he could have had
His father saw what the judge didn't think was showing
Like a wolf in sheep's clothing
I can't believe the way people act these days
They forgot the good book and follow the devils ways
They think about themselves and that is all they do
Remember do onto others as you'd have done to you
Everybody remembers that fateful day
The thought of the towers crumbling wont go away
I support our troops because I'm a gulf war vet
Bin Laden knew our president would forget
The original cause we started fighting for
Then we find ourselves in a completely different war
Three years later and we finally know who lied
It's because of them so many troops have died
I guarantee they know just what they've done
Those soldiers are someone's daughter or someone's son
We lay each soldier to rest as the Eagle flies
On election day they'll be accountable for their lies
I wish their true intent would have been showing
Unlike a wolf in sheep's clothing
So remember that it doesn't matter where you are going
There are wolves in sheep's clothing
