The Bell Sound

© 2008 Martha E. MacDonald

Verse I:
The phone has stopped ringing.
You rarely come to me.
My heart has stopped singing.
I wonder what can it be?
Loss of appetite.
Loss of sleep.
I lay there and wonder,
What’s the use of counting sheep.

Chorus:
We were so happy.
Time went so fast.
The phone would ring.
You were here at last.
Now there’s no bell sound.
No rush to the phone.
No longer my heart pounds.
No happiness around.
There’s no bell sound.

Verse II:
I miss you so tonight.
I miss your beautiful smile.
I miss you holding me tight.
Can’t you visit for awhile?
I play my favorite love song,
Over and over each day.
It brings you closer to me.
I want you here to stay.

Repeat Chorus.
