Summer of '63
By Paul Davis
Verse 1:
Sittin' in his favorite chair
I climbed upon his knee
Said, Grandpa can you tell me
Your favorite memory
Son! I've got a million
But theres one I really miss
It was a time in my prime
Back when we were kids
Chorus:
Ridin' bikes and swimmin'
Down in blockhouse creek
Campin' out and tellin' jokes
Baseball and little league
Five o'clock and rushin' home
Cause Popeyes on T.V.
Those were the good times
In the Summer of sixty-three
Verse 2:
Now Rodgers rich in Utah
And Mike drives a truck
Me I'm writin' bad songs
And Marks down on his luck
Memories are photographs
We capture in our mind
And every now and then
We relive 'em one more time
Repeat chorus
Verse 3:
Lord! I'd love to go back
If I have the time
Swim in that old creek
With those friends of mine
But if my maker calls
I'll say Lord! If you please
Give me one more Summer
Back in sixty-three
Chorus:
Ride'n bikes and swimmin'
Down in blockhouse creek
Campin' out and tellin' jokes
Baseball and little league
Five o'clock and rushin' home
Cause popeye's on T.V.
Lord! I'd give most anything
For one Summer in sixty-three
Just one more Summer
With Rodger, Mike, Mark and me
