Second Prize Lyric

Swinging On Texas Time

By: Betty Fritz

Verse I:
Amarillo down to Houston,
Eight hundred miles of Lone Star state.
Three trips a week hauling swinging beef,
Her love keeps me awake.
The DOT is watching for me,
But my logbook says I’m fine.
Ten more hours and the night is ours.
I’m swinging on Texas time.

Chorus:
I’m swinging on Texas time,
With that sweet gal of mine.
When she wants to doh-se-doh I can’t say no.
I’m swinging on Texas time.”

Verse II:
Got a Plainview down to Lubbock.
Sweet water to Abilene.
I’ll go whacko going through Waco,
Pull off in Killeen.
She’ll meet me at the Roadhouse,
Man she’s looking fine.
Boots that scoot and a cowboy suit.
I’m swinging on Texas time.

Repeat Chorus

Verse III:
I’ll switch my load then hit the road.
Sweet mem’ries left behind.
Got eighteen wheels and a cab of steel,
This trucker’s doing fine.
All scales are closed to it’s open road.
Her sweet love’s on my mind.
Eight days a week don’t need no sleep.
I’m swinging on Texas time.

Repeat Chorus
