Red Or Black

By Sue Collinge

Verse:
She knew that night that he wouldn't come back.
He'd lost his heart on a game of blackjack.
Their house, their home lay on the turn of a card.
A gambler's wife has a life that's so hard.

Chorus:
If it's red or black, there's no going back.
He's made his stake, that's the chance you take.
A spin of the wheel or the roll of a dice.
His wife and his family pay the ultimate price.

Verse:
He hid those bills away to hide his shame.
All those dollars and cents equal a load of pain.
His family fortune rests on the turn of a wheel.
Their house, their home on the cards in a deal.

Chorus:
If it's red or black, there's no going back.
He's made his stake, that's the chance you take.
A spin of the wheel or the roll of a dice.
His wife and his family pay the ultimate price.

Verse:
He can't go home, all the money's been spent.
His credits up to the limit, there's no more to be lent.
In the dark hours he made the biggest gamble of all.
Lost his wife and family on that last final call.

Chorus:
If it's red or black, there's no going back.
He's made his stake, that's the chance you take.
A spin of the wheel or the roll of a dice.
His wife and his family paid the ultimate price.
