Me Not Callin’ You
© 2006 Kenneth Paul Klipp
Verse I:
She sat down beside me, so I bought her a drink.
Then she started each sentence by saying, “I think…”
Like I give a damn about what she might say,
As I sat there and plotted my best get-a-way. (And I said…)
Chorus:
Write down your number, area code and all.
And someday when I care what you think then I’ll call.
Sit by the phone, yeah that’s what you should do.
Cause when that phone’s not ringin’, that’s me not callin’ you.
Verse II:
My job’s filled with losers. My boss is their king.
He tells me how I should do each little thing.
He thinks his ideas are God’s gifts to us all.
When I want his opinion, I’ll give him a call. (I told him…)
Repeat Chorus.
Bridge:
Turn on your machine and get caller ID.
So, when there’s no message, you’ll know that it’s me.
Verse III:
Well, I thought my wife loved me, but I guess I was wrong.
Last night at the door, she stopped to say, “So long”
She said, “You cannot get by without me here.”
I shrugged and said , “Frankly, that’s why I brought beer. (I told her…)
Final Chorus:
Send me your number, area code and all.
And someday when I care what you think then I’ll call.
Sit by the phone, yeah that’s what you should do.
Cause when that phone’s not ringin’, that’s me not callin’ you.
