Anna’s Diary
© 2007 Dennis R. Garrett
Verse I:
Well I sat down in my easy chair, the news was on TV.
The story they were telling, it touched the heart of me.
They arrested a Nazi member, who was now a very old man.
My thoughts went back in time to a young girl named Ann.
He had lived his entire life hidden in our society,
While she died young in a land called Germany.
Chorus:
Oh, sweet Anna, your diary was found left behind,
For all the world to read.
Oh, sweet Anna, your privacy was found left behind,
For all the world to see. Oh, sweet Anna.
Verse II:
So I picked up the paperback and I thumbed through it once again.
Your love for life girl, it seemed to have no end.
And I wonder if you know how you poured out your soul,
In perfect honesty for all the world to see.
Chorus:
Oh, sweet Anna, your diary was found left behind,
For all the world to read.
Oh, sweet Anna, your privacy was found left behind,
For all the world to see. Oh, sweet Anna.
Verse III:
Well your love for life to me is hard to comprehend.
I don’t speak your language, but I understand.
Just a teen in your youth, it’s hard to fight the tears,
Found in an unmarked grave, but through you book you’ve stayed.
Chorus:
Oh, sweet Anna, your diary was found left behind,
For all the world to read.
Oh, sweet Anna, your privacy was found left behind,
For all the world to see. Oh, sweet Anna.
Oh, sweet Anna. Oh, sweet Anna.
